In 2023, Bollywood shattered box-office records and fascinated the audiences but was notable for diversity. Jawan and Pathaan are important examples of action movies that demonstrate to the viewers why they had to watch them using breathtaking stunts. But these were not the only things. Even though there were many fans of such action films, others were attracted by funny comedies like OMG 2 and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar as reasons for laughter. Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan returned with back-to-back blockbusters where they proved their lasting power. At the same time, new kids arrived on stage. Fresh directors renewed storytelling while budding actors breathed life into movies.
Throughout 2023, Bollywood was unlike any other place in terms of movies, whether in terms of humorous romcoms like Satyaprem Ki Katha or critical social commentaries like Bheed. It was a year that was aimed at big entertainment spiced with deep thinking and feelings about some issues. If you wanted thrilling actions that would lead your heartbeats to stop momentarily gut-wrenching jokes that would bring tears to your eyes or insights that could make you reassess humanity, then Bollywood this year had something for you.
Action Extravaganza | New Bollywood Movies 2023
Pathaan
Siddharth Anand’s masterpiece is one thriller film that is also known as a jaw-dropper because all tickets went sold out breaking all other records simultaneously. Shahrukh Khan returns to his action avatar along with Deepika Padukone; however, what made it special is John Abraham’s cameo appearance with both performed powerful roles alongside amazing stunts taking place within minutes. This movie is about an Indian spy who must race against time as a ruthless mercenary bent on revenge carries out a doomsday attack on his motherland.
Jawan
Atlee has done it again with this action-drama blockbuster. Shahrukh Khan was back in style with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi doing great justice to their respective parts. A jailer’s tale of using prisoners as tools for exposing corruption and injustice eventually leads to him getting an unexpected meeting.
Animal (I)
The hard-hitting director from Kabir Singh Sandeep Reddy Vanga brings his signature style to this action crime drama. Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna are also part of the cast making for what should be one helluva thrilling show. After years away, a hardened son is back for bloody vengeance against anyone endangering his father’s life.
Tiger 3 (2023)
Salman Khan’s iconic Tiger is back! The director Maneesh Sharma brings along Emraan Hashmi to meet Katrina Kaif in the suspense thriller sequel [19]. We should expect another round of exciting journeys or chase scenes reminiscent of any tiger movies before. Reunions are sweeter when they are filled with personal vengeance.
Gadar 2
The epic love story that captured hearts in 2001 returns to cinemas. Ameesha Patel gets paired once again with the lead star Sunny Deol under Anil Sharma’s guidance. This next chapter should remind us much about the first one while showing where we are now with the Gadar: Ek Prem Katha series too.
Mission Raniganj
Pooja Entertainment has announced a film that will be produced under their banner by Jackky Bhagnani and Vashu Bhagnani along with Deepshikha Deshmukh. It is based on the true story of Jaswant Singh Gill who saved 65 miners in the collapse of Raniganj Coalfields, West Bengal in 1989.

When a ‘player’ of relationships finds that there is a girl who can oppose his moves equally well because she believes love is nothing but mind games.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
Karan Johar is returning with a comedy-drama everyone’s waiting for! The ever-vibrant Ranveer Singh and vivacious Alia Bhatt are unleashed again by Johar for another whirlwind romance full of laughter, and drama, larger-than-life sets. Flamboyant Punjabi Rocky falls in love with intellectual Bengali journalist Rani against all odds. They opt to live at each other’s home for three months before marriage after receiving opposition from their families.
OMG 2
Akshay Kumar once again returns with the sequel ‘Oh My God’. Pankaj Tripathi also joins the cast to tickle funny bones and make people think a little bit. In this dramatic but witty courtroom drama, an unhappy citizen asks the court to order comprehensive education in the schools.
Satyaprem Ki Katha
Kartik Aaryan’s boyish charm meets Kiara Advani’s spunk in this contemporary romantic comedy. Directed by David Dhawan, known for his slapstick comedies, this film promises entertainment for the whole family. It is the story of a middle-class Ahmedabad boy who loves Satyaprem and falls for Katha who is healing from her breakup with Tapan. Journeying through they fill out each other’s lives and finish off where it was left midway.
